Storm Song 03:31
There's a rumbling The sky is filled with grey There's a rumbling Then CRACK it's bright as day There's a rumbling Now here comes the rain There's a rumbling I am going sane There's a rumbling I am all alone There's a rumbling Soak me to the bone There's a rumbling Dancing in the storm There's a rumbling I am now reborn There's a rumbling Bare feet on the ground There's a rumbling Rain is beating down There's a rumbling This electric energy There's a rumbling Deep inside of me There's a rumbling Lightning splits the sky There's a rumbling Reflected in my eye There's a rumbling Arms raised overhead There's a rumbling My soul has been fed

Liminal 02:09
Between the land and the sea Between the night and day Between the sea and the sky And as the seasons change The spirit of the liminal Lives inside of me And at sunset it calls me away And day after day I fend off it's draw But the pull Is strongest today At Samhain at sunset The light on the ocean reveals a lit causeway Horizon to shore And I could walk upon it and sideways slip between My world and theirs

My friends in a box will be there for me When they get notified that they're needed But there are so many sometimes it's hard To feel worthy of being heeded When I was younger my friends in a box Could only be reached one by one By messages typed out by unsteady hands And mostly we talked just for fun As I got older my friends in a box Were easier to reach out to And chatrooms became, with the use of real names A place I could learn more about you Now there are so many friends in a box I can see and hear magically clearly We're singing and learning and sharing new hairdos But touch is the thing I miss dearly I am so grateful, my friends in a box You've kept me creative and sane So is anyone up for a really good (!) When we're outside the box once again

Fairy Lights 02:53
My parents have a bay window By now there will be a tree With warm white fairy lights aglow And hung with a hundred mismatched memories Our ornaments are motley Some are antique, some brand new But they represent our family And all that we've been through Some are a little broken Some come from far away Some handmade by us as children Some got lost along the way But those we have this year, tonight Come together in the glow Of warm white fairy lights In my parents' bay window

about

4 songs written over the course of 2020.

I've been extremely lucky to have a group of friends who have been getting together once or twice a week on Zoom to share songs and stories - a lot of us have found inspiration to write new work this year as we've got a platform to share it among friends, and this is the culmination of many many requests to actually record the songs I've been writing.

This is not an exhaustive list, but it is the four best tracks and I hope that whether you are part of Bards Club or not, you will find something here to relate to, whatever your experience of this very unusual year has been. Whether it's finding a creative boost from dancing barefoot in one of the numerous thunderstorms we had over the summer, contemplating the calm but lonely feeling of being "between" as the sun sets over the sea, realising how grateful you are for your online buddies and familiy video calls, or looking forward with bittersweetness to whatever midwinter holidays you celebrate and how they will be just a little bit different this year.
